82 years of holistic education

"As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, it is my objective to make the students, faculty, and the community grow morally, academically, socially, and politically, thereby making them worthy citizens and future leaders of a better nation." – Dr. Jose R. Locsin

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

The year 1925 was important and significant for it was that year that the noble objective of two tanners, the Hermoso Hermanos, was realized. They believed that they could share their little profit by establishing a school for the children of their less-fortunate factory workers who could not afford to send them to Manila to study in high school. The two brothers were for the betterment of their workers’ children.

Together with educators and Methodist Minister Gregorio Fernando, Andres Dulatas and Jose Peñas bound together for the opening of a high school. Their noble and sublime purpose was ably supported by their other friends and compadres, namely, Apolinario Delos Santos, Cosme Carlos, Venancio Lim-Crespo, Roberto Alarilla, Mateo Legaspi, Gregorio Ocampo, Vicente Ocampo, Vicente Alvarez, Gregorio Cordero, Marcos Ira, and many others.

They started by renting a school house, a wooden building, with a minimal rent. This marked the rise of Meycauayan Institute, the first secondary school in Meycauayan, Bulacan. The tuition fee was very affordable. Now, the lofty purpose of Hermoso Hermanos was extended to the less privileged children of the town.

Gregorio Fernando became the first president of the school. Heading the institution thereafter.
