The local government executive of Javier town, Leyte has pledged full support to education with plans to improve the state of education of the town.
Mayor Leonardo “Sandy” Javier sought the help of the Department of Education in Eastern Visayas regarding his development programs on education and good governance.
The mayor and DepEd regional director Luisa Bautista-Yu and Leyte Division Superintendent Sara Apurillo discussed his concerns for his hometown particularly on his plans to improve the state of education of the town.
The mayor stated his desire for quality education to impact on his constituents which would lead to improved townsfolk. Repair and construction of new classrooms, and health and nutrition of pupils had been prioritized in his development program.
Since the town has only one secondary school, Mayor Javier disclosed his plans to build another secondary school and asked the DepEd officials on how to go about in realizing the plan as the proposed site for the school has been identified.
Both the DepEd officials and the mayor agreed to the groundbreaking of the proposed site of the new secondary school to be held maybe August or September this year as soon as the documents for the lot donation to the DepEd is completed.
