The Civil Service Commission (CSC) recently gave the go-signal for this capital town to be a testing venue of the Civil Service Paper and Pencil Test on October 21.
Director Perfecto Cardenas of the CSC-Abra field office made the official announcement over the local radio here after he got a copy of the Memorandum No. 61 Series of 2012 authorizing the Abra office to conduct the Civil Service Examination in Bangued.
Initially, the CS examination was scheduled to be conducted only in the provinces of Kalinga and Ifugao and the City of Baguio.
Due to the time and money considerations in traveling to Baguio which is the nearest testing venue, Cardenas sought the approval of its central office to authorize the conduct of the said examination in Bangued.
Applications are now being accepted in the CSC Abra and deadline for submission is September 6.
Cardenas also explained that educational qualification is no longer a requirement to be able to take the CS examination for eligibility. He said this requirement had been waived since 2002 when applicants to CS examinations were required to have finished at least 72 units in college to be able to take the CS-sub-professional examination, and at least college graduate to be allowed to take the CS-professional examination.
All Filipino citizens at least 18 years and over can take the CS examinations for eligibility provided they are of good moral character; have not been convicted of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness or addiction to drugs; have not been dismissed from government service and have not taken the same level of CS examination in less than three months.
