A video allegedly involving a male public school teacher and his former female student in Victorias City is now proliferating through cellular phones and pirated compact discs (CDs) that are being sold in some parts of Negros Occidental.
The video reportedly shows the man engaged in a sexual act with the woman.
Superintendent Rizalino Tortosa of the Negros Occidental Schools Division of the department of Education (DepEd) said that his office will investigate the matter.
If proven that the man in the video is indeed a public school teacher, Tortosa said he will “impose the maximum penalty on him for committing such immoral and unethical act.”
“If the allegations are proven to be true, he could face dismissal,” he said.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Victorias is also planning to investigate the matter after it came to their attention that the video has spread to other parts of the province.
“We are still gathering more information and consult first with the DepEd and the principal of the school where the teacher is in. Once we have enough evidence, the council can now make a stand on the issue,” said City Councilor Sulpicio Montinola, Chairman of the SP Committee on Education.
The principal of the school refused to issue a statement to the media and said that she will formally submit a letter to the division office of DepEd about it.
The Catholic Church also voiced its concern over the proliferation of sex scandals as well as on partners videotaping them themselves while making love to each other.
“Sex is supposed to be a sacred thing and done in the bounds of marriage and not as a public exhibition,” said Fr. Felix Pasquin, Rector of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
The Church emphasized that it condemns the act but the not the person or persons involved in the scandal.
