MDC Bailadores, the official dance and cheering squad of MDC, was founded by alumnae Ciara Fernandez and Monica Dacanay in 2004.
The name Bailadores was derived from the Spanish word baila meaning “dance”.
In 2005, the MDC Bailadores performed during the launch of Hobbies of Asia in Pasay City and were featured in the ABSCBN morning show, Magandang Umaga Pilipinas. The following year, the group joined and won second place and texters’ choice award in the intercollegiate Street Dance Competition held at the Far Eastern University. The MDC Bailadores has also been invited to perform in the ‘’You Can Dance’’ show. The group has been a regular performer of the Metrobank Foundation Inc. and Manila Doctors Hospital’s events such as Nursing Congress held at the Manila Hotel. In addition to this, MDC Bailadores also supported the environmental advocacy of the Coca Cola Foundation Philippines in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Last year, the dance group organized a concert titled Bodies in Motion for the benefit of the MDC Scholars.
At present, the group is headed by Mr. Aljon San Martin, a third year nursing student and under the guidance of Mr. Eduardo Duque who is also the assistant registrar of the College.
One of their major projects is a tie-up with the MDC Nutrition Department for the FAT Busters Program, a nutrition and weight-reduction program for the College’s students. The group will be handling the aerobics and dance classes for this project.
