It was 48 hours before "d-day," everybody were busy sprucing up the campus, gearing up for the main event, the 23rd Foundation day, on October 9 and 10. The feeling is very ecstatic most especially to the founders who seemed to have dosed off and not realized that their creation is already 23 years old. The years had breezed through, despite the restrictive business environment, and the College has grown by leaps and bound.
The Foundation Day was ushered in by a Mass held in the College hangar, with all the College officers and staff in attendance. It was a renewal of bonds between the men and women of the College. On this day everybody were co-equals. This phenomenon was likely attributable to the divine presence of the Almighty who has been the formidable force behind the College.
The academic departments launched various competitions to showcase the achievements of their respective students in their chosen fields of endeavor. The displays and booths reflected the vision and mission of the departments.
For instance, the B.S. Avionics department presented a scaled model of an Aircraft Carrier which highlighted the various defense capabilities of the vessel and the state of the art avionics equipment. But what struck the judges most is that it utilized indigenous materials, thus saving on cost. Truly, it was a sight to see.
Not to be outdone, the B.S. Aircraft Maintenance Technology main stayed as part of their display a cut out of an aircraft engine depicting how an aircraft engine works and the principle behind it operations. Although very technical, it was an eye catcher because the parts were taken from an old Volkswagen engine. Indeed, it was ingenuity at work.
On the lighter side, the B.S. Tourism department bragged itself as a sure contender for the top prize, deviated from their usual theme and simulated the sights and sounds of India. Due to the sheer magnitude of the display, the expectators were awed. The presentation even had a live belly dancers perform, if only to capture the mystique of India. The author himself was drawn by the sheer tenacity showed by the students in really pouring their hearts into their craft.
As if to say that they are a force to reckon with, the 3rd and 2nd year students of B.S. Tourism choose to present the wonder that is Rome. The display was characterized by murals and paintings of the famous painters of the renaissance era. To top it up, clad in high end brand apparels, this group of students proceeded to do a fashion show. The tourism students are truly both beauty and brains.
Festivities was even heightened by a successful running of the College Intramurals which pitted the athletic prowess of the students in basketball, volleyball, chess, table tennis, and games of the general. The month long sports activity saw the B.S. Avionics bagging most of the coveted prices.
To veer from the usual pageantry of any foundation Day, the College held a Declamation Competition both in English and Filipino. The orators fought tooth and nail mustering their eloquence and wit to boot.
As culmination, the last day of the affair saw a Battle of the Bands comprised of home grown talents belting out songs the likes of Rivermaya, Mojofly and Orange & Lemons to name a few. Likewise, there was an individual sing-along competition which was opened to all levels. Surprisingly, despite their rough exteriors, the contestant proved to be all good singers. The outcome of the competition serves to motivate the College to give equal importance to the arts and cultural dimensions of teaching.
In general, the College, on its Foundation Day, despite its modest appearance and the uncanny absence of the trappings of a town fiesta, was proud to show to the world its most valuable resource, it students.

WHO TOLD YOU SO, DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT US PILOTS CANT JUST TEACH WITHOUT GOING THRU PROFFICIENCY CHECK AT THE AIR TRANSPORTATION OFFICE AND HAS TO PASS AND ACQUIRE A GROUND INSTRUCTOR LICENSE BEFORE BEING ACCEPTED IN AIRLINK FINALLY,,, IF WE ARE ABNORMAL HOW THE HELL DID WE PASSED ALL THE EXAMS AT THE A.T.O TO GET THAT SAID LICENSE??? do you know that majority of the instructors in PAL Aviation School are AIR LINK Products? Most flying schools out there are handled by Flight Instructors who are graduates of airlink :)
