San Carlos grants post graduate scholarship to teachers
Written by admin on May 21st, 2009San Carlos City extended scholarship assistance to school teachers of San Carlos City who qualified and topped the ranking set by the city for its Scholarship Program in retooling of public and private school teachers of Basic Education.
The program specifically covers the teaching of English and Mathematics for the improvement of the school children’s academic achievement.
The qualified beneficiaries are Math teacher Luzvizminda T. Cabale, School of the Future; English teacher Lorna B. Canoy, Tañon College; and English teacher Ramil R. Ramiso, Quezon Elementary School.
They will receive an assistance worth P30,000 for school fees equivalent to P5,000 per semester for a period of three years.
This is the first scholarship of this kind in the city government. At present, San Carlos City has an on-going scholarship program for the top three graduates of public and private high schools in the city.
The city government funded the program through the P100,000 donation from the family of the late Gregorio R. Reonisto, Acting City Mayor of the city in 1987, through his wife Amparo E. Reonisto.
The beneficiaries are required to maintain a general average of 80 percent or its equivalent with no failing grades or dropped subjects for every semester and to render two years of service to their respective schools after the completion of the scholarship with due compensation in accordance with law.
The teacher-beneficiaries signed a memorandum of agreement with San Carlos City Mayor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson recently at the Office of the City Mayor.
