Southland College, located at Don Emilio Village, Brgy. 9 is the latest college to have opened in the city and seating as president is Dr. Anecito Villaluz, Jr
For a start, the college is offering a four-year course in Accountancy, Business Administration and Accounting Technology. It also offers a one-year Caregiving and Practical Nursing and 2-year Midwifery Course and a complete pre-school, elementary and high school departments.
Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco, who is the guest of honor said the opening of the SC is an answer to the need for more schools in the fast-growing city of Kabankalan and a big boost to its socio-economic progress.
Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco said the local government will extend whatever help it can give to the young college. The mayor said he is happy that Kabankalan is now becoming the education center in south of Negros.
Classes at the new Southland College will open at June 8.
