The Western Visayas College of Science and Technology College of Engineering ranked No. 3 in the licensure examinations on registered electrical engineers conducted by the Board of Electrical Engineering this September 2010.

WVCST Dean of College of Engineering and Architecture Engr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr. said that the achievement is not just the department?s pride but belongs to everybody in the college.

The achievement came as the college celebrated its 105th Foundation anniversary.

Data from the Professional Regulation Commission showed that WVCST obtained an over-all passing rate of 85.71 percent with 18 out of its 21 examinees successfully passing the said licensure examination. The WVCST Electronics and Communication Engineering Department also ranked second in their licensure examination in April 2004.

WVCST students who are now Registered Electrical Engineers are: Jenie Rose G. Berdejo, Kenneth P. Calimpong, Mark Vincent O. Cantallopez, Razel D. Cezar, Hyacinth L. De Pedro, Elibert B. Derla, Eduardo D. Etino Jr., Lyrose B. Gaviloria, Ruel C. Geromiano, Kenneth E. Gicanal, Allan G. Llavanes, Chris J. Margarico, Ervin O. Miado, Jeffrey N. Neodama, Marvin M. Pescasiosa, Leo S. Salibio, Joemar S. Senosa, and Dioscoro B. Tamon Jr.

The new registered electrical engineers will have their oath taking ceremony on November 6, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City, according to a PRC report.
