The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has offered a free assessment and certification to qualified applicants in Northern Mindanao.

Dubbed the “National TVET Competency Assessment and Certification (NatCAC),” the activity aims to benefit thousands of skilled workers trainers and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates and graduating students, Regional Director Edwin C. Gatinao of TESDA-10, said.

Gatinao said applicants should be able to hurdle all the required competencies, before they will be given a National Certificate (NC) or Certificate of Competency (COC), which they can use in applying for jobs in such fields that are presently in demand.

Meanwhile, the first run of the weeklong NatCAC, held March 28-April 1, will be having a closing program on April 1, 2011, 1:30 p.m. at the Cagayan de Oro (Bugo) School of Arts and Trades (COBSAT).

Included in the NATCAC are the competency assessment and certification in identified key qualifications that are hard to find but with high industry demand, that include the following:

For construction: Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II & III, Masonry NC III, Plumbing NC II, Carpentry NC III, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II & III and Construction Painting NC III.

For Information, Communication Technology (ICT): Visual Graphics NC III, 2D Animation NC III, 3D Animation NC III, Programming NC IV and Computer Hardware Servicing NC II.

For Electronics: Mechatronics NC III, Instrumentation NC III and Consumer Electronics Servicing III.

For tourism courses: Food and Beverage Services NC II and III, Commercial Cooking NC II, Bread and Pastry Making NC II, Housekeeping NC II & III and Events Management Services NC III.

For automotive and land transport: Automotive Servicing NC II & III and Driving NC III.

Gatinao said the next two batches of the NatCAC are initially set on June 27-July 1 and August 22-26, 2011.

Those who wish to apply may secure the assessment application form from any of the TESDA Regional and Provincial/District Offices and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) region wide or may have the forms downloaded from the TESDA website at www.tesda.gov.ph.
