Colegio de San Pedro
October 2006
School of excellence and quality education today for the future
COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO was founded by Atty. and Mrs. Maximo R. Abesamis (nee
Erlinda V. Pampolina) school year 1980-1981.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
"All so suddenly we are on our 26th year. We look back to our humble
beginnings, our hearts filled with gratitude to God. And we realize how much
responsibilities go with these blessings," said the Abesamis couple.
The Colegio De San Pedro Institute of Computer Technology at Phase-1A, Pacita
Complex in San Pedro, Laguna. In 1981, Atty. and Mrs. Abesamis acquired a house
and lot in the newly-opened Pacita Complex Subdivision in San Pedro, Laguna,
with the dream of reaching out to more children to serve God and country. They
found the way to that dream when the residents urged Mrs. Abesamis to organize
a school for their little children, knowing that she (Mrs. Abesamis) was then
an elementary school principal III in Biñan,Laguna.
The enterprising couple established the Pacita Complex Learning Center, a
nursery/kindergarten school. Their vision: Service to God and Country. Opening
date: School year 1981-1982.
In school year 1982-1983, Grades 1-4 were organized. In 1983-1984 Grades 5 was
added and in 1984-1985 Grades 6 was opened.
In 1986, the school was renamed COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO, now with complete high
school. Mrs. Atanacia B. Malsi, former general supervisor in the Division of
City Schools, Manila, was high school principal, from 1986 to 1991 when she
left for the United States.
Through the years, COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO has kept pace with the changing needs
and conditions of the time and society.
The high school department became COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL at
the start of the school year 1996-1997, with the addition of the
science-oriented curriculum.Computer Education was offered from Grade I-VI,
through high school.
In the same school year, the college department was established giving way to
the COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY.
Mr. and Mrs. Abesamis, together with the key teachers and known educators,
conceived the Institute of Computer Technology because of the felt need to
produce world-class graduates or professionals who can live effectively in the
fast developing high-tech century.
A new 5-storey college building was built in the 2-hectare ground of CDSP.
Initially, two courses were offered, namely, Associate in Computer Secretarial
and Associate in Computer Science.
CDSP has a well-defined/emerging culture composed of the shared beliefs,
expectations and values. This is shown in the following creed:
Culture is consistent with the current objectives, strategies, policies and
programs. Instructors, teachers and other school personnel have a common goal.
All are instruments in the accomplishment of objectives and implementation of
strategies, policies and programs.
All honestly believe that productivity (success) depends much on the quality
of their performance and that of their students/graduates.
The school easily adapts to changing conditions since its curriculum offerings
keep pace with the needs and conditions of the society.
Today, the CDSP INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY is a landmark in Pacita
Complex, San Pedro, Laguna. From its fifth floor multi-purpose rooftop can be
seen the panorama of surrounding towns and villages.
COLEGIO DE SAN PEDRO is committed to the total quality education of its
students by offering them the best in computer-related courses and the chance
to a high-paying career.
This can only be achieved with highly qualified and experienced educators,
multi-media laboratories with full internet connectivity, detailed
step-by-step instructions and exercises.
Focus is on delivering relevant training to the way companies work. This
training will lead students to "achieve excellence and quality education today
for the future". It is also the CDSP’s commitment to deliver the most
effective and efficient way to acquire immediate computer skills through
instructor-led, hands-on training and preparing the students for global
competitiveness.
In order to attain the objective of Colegio de San Pedro’s global
competitiveness, the College Department has established various organizations
whose main function is to study, make research, and participate in the
on-going trend in Computer Education. The Society of CDSPians in Information
Technology (ScITech) works from the latest discoveries and innovations in
Computer Technology. It adapts these in their curriculum agenda so students
can acquire or learn the most modern and state-of-the-art computer operations.
The Supreme Student Council (SSC) promotes the welfare, discipline,
camaraderie, and well-being of the students. Officers are the source of help,
assistance, advice and solution to students’ problems. They act as role models
to the students in particular, and CDSP in general.
The officers and members of Math Society (MathSoc) offer their expertise in
tutorial services to students for free. They provide guidance in
mathematical/statistical problems.
The Teatro Batingaw is responsible for performances in various school programs
promoting the school particularly in theater arts. It takes charge of all
college activities such as Foundation Week, Buwan ng Wika, Christmas
Celebration, Graduation, etc.
The National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a requirement for graduation
as provided by R.A. 9163.
In compliance with the latest rules in the conduct of NSTP on Green Philippine
High-Way, CDSP has launched its Tree Planting Activity. NSTP students planted
various seedlings at the main road of Pacita Complex in coordination with
Chairman Norvic D. Solidum of Barangay San Vicente, San Pedro, Laguna. These
trees will be thoroughly maintained by the members of the barangay, the
Homeowner’s Association and the NSTP students of Colegio de San Pedro.
